Legal Aspects In The Request For Visum Et Repertum At Hospital ‘X’

Abstract

This study aims to examine the regulations and implementation of visum et repertum requests at Hospital “X.” The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and uses a case study as its analytical technique. The main focus is to assess the conformity of the request and issuance procedures for visum et repertum with applicable legal provisions, particularly in cases where the document is handed directly to the patient or their family without going through authorized parties such as the police. Data were collected through document reviews and observations of the procedures applied in the hospital’s medical records unit. The findings of this study are expected to serve as an evaluation material for hospitals in managing visum et repertum documents and to contribute to law enforcement in the process of proving criminal cases. In practice, requests made by law enforcement officers are fulfilled, while requests from other parties refer to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24 of 2022 and technical guidelines outlined in the Instruction of the Chief of the Indonesian National Police Number INS/E/20/IX/1975.
